The River Mill Restaurant and Bar: Steak, Spanish, Portuguese Restaurant
Growing up in Portugal food was a large part of Mario
Fonseca’s life. Sitting around the dinner table talking with
family, and eating recipes that were handed down generation,
by generation. Some dating back to before Columbus
discovered America, most from the time of the monks, and
when trading routes to India first started. Serving these
traditional dishes is what brought the concept from dream to
reality.
On the job site in 2000 Mario had an epiphany, and using his
knowledge around the kitchen, his family legacy for
delicious dishes, work on Cod ships, and his Great
Grandfathers and their fathers before them place of work The
River Mill was born.
While looking for the right location many spots came and
went, but when Mario and Maria saw Bordentown, and the
location that was there, everything fell into place.
The River Mill Restaurant & Bar started serving 400 year old
recipes with modern adaptations in 2004, using the heritage
of Portugal to entice guest with traditional favorites.
Having a history of tradition and tastefulness The River
Mill allows for guests to sit in the elegant dinning room or
the newly renovated bar.
Like all European cultures the Portuguese are no different. Their love of wine and Port (the traditional drink of Portugal) are brought to The River Mill which features an extensive wine collection that Mario picked out himself.
The dishes that are served at
The River Mill
are diverse to
allow for anyone to find a dish that they like, and the
friendly atmosphere allows for the wait staff to help guests
pick out a dish that is right for them.
